I really like the linework in these two images, the way the lines curve and loop and twist and interweave. The left is more of a modern take on the idea and the right more traditional looking. I would like to incoporate the shape and movement of the lines into my design.

The digital manlipuation on these two images i find to be very appealing. The use of what appears to be old stones or rocks lightly screened over the top of the images to create the appearence of texture is very effective in creating an old, mystic, "other-wordly" look to the image. This 'mystic' style I would like to try and add into my design to help depict the dark fantasy world, symbolic of gamblings consuming, addictive nature.
Elements:
Went looking for examples of branches and trees which included the interweaving, curved, twisted appeal of the lines in the first few images. The image of the tortured willow on the far right was particularly interesting as it holds a very dark, mystic appeal to it. The colour scheme of the forest (middle) could also work well for my design, using dark earthy browns and greys.
Style:
Was thinking of depicting my concept through a digital painting style, using elements of the sureal/fantasy elements. I would use Photoshop combined with a graphics tablet to try and paint digitally to express my ideas.
[Images from DeviantART.com I do not own any of them. Artists are as follows: Pixie Queen, ArtofTheMystic, Elfka, Kafik, Mosredna, Artsgr1e, The Third Triangle, Wi Flip FF, Lucias Tears, and Jezebel.]

It would be good for you now to think about the elements that can be surrealized in your pictures to communicate your message. If you use the motif of surrealism about going into other worlds, what world does gambling transport you into? The Garden of Earthly Delights is a rather interesting model - first comes birth, then pleasures of gambling, then destitution. In any case, it's time for you to come up with actual content samples to discuss.
